Picotte Recycles
September 25, 2009

Over the summer Picotte expanded its company-wide recycling program to include glass, metal, and plastic. Starting in June, gray recycling bins with green lids were installed in every Picotte property and are a visible sign of Picotte's commitment to the environment, community and tenants.

"Our goal is to lessen our impact on the environment and to produce less trash in each of our buildings. It's easier on the landfill and cuts waste removal costs," said Ed Thomas, Picotte director of housekeeping services, noting that more than 3,700 bins were installed.

The new bins join the blue paper collection receptacles that were introduced in 2007. Picotte's highly successful paper recycling program has reduced outgoing waste by 25-30 percent since the project's launch. That amount is expected to drop even further with the addition of the new glass, metal and plastic recycling bins that are found throughout every Picotte-owned building.

"Many tenants have made positive comments about the program and are working with us on this," Ed reported. "This initiative reflects Picotte's dedication to preserving the environment and looking out for the well-being of our tenants while saving them money. We're pleased to help them help the environment."
